A Tribute to My Parents

Noble and Dorothy Doss

Dr. Doss and his mom, Dorothy

Mom was my guiding light. As a "Magna Cum Laude" graduate of UT Austin, she always stressed the importance of education. As an elementary teacher and an active member of the Austin community, she modeled the importance of "giving back." She was honored at St. David's hospital for over forty years of volunteer service as a "Robin" and was well-known and respected by her friends, co-workers and those patients whose lives she touched.

Dr. Doss with his dad

Best friends forever.

Noble Webster Doss, Senior

May 22, 1920 - February 15, 2009

Dad's famous "impossible catch"Noble attended Temple High School and graduated from the University of Texas where he was an accomplished member of the Texas Longhorns football team.

He and Dorothy married in 1941 and, following his service with the United States Navy during World War II, returned to the football field to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles won the World Championship during the 1948- 1949 season while Noble was on the team.

Noble and Dorothy returned to Austin where he continued his lifelong love of Longhorn football and nurtured many friendships in a successful life insurance business until his retirement in 2001. Noble was inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor in 1980 and, in 1995, into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.

Thanks Mom and Dad. I honor, love and miss you both.
