Please don't limit yourself to internet research. We want our patients to be well-informed and are happy to answer your questions.

Healthy Women An excellent resource for up to date unbiased information on a wide variety of topics relating to women of all ages

Healthy Children An excellent resource for your child's health from the American Academy of Pediatrics

American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology The national organization for certifying OB-GYNs and for physician and patient educational options

North American Menopause Society THE best, unbiased and current health resource for all health issues for women in their peri- and postmenopausal years. It addresses questions about hormone usage and options, and a wide variety of issues pertinent to women's health beyond age 40.

The Heart Truth: Women and Heart Disease (Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada) Given that heart disease is the leading single cause of death in women (50%), it is CRITICAL to adopt a "heart-healthy" lifestyle, and it is almost never too late to do so.  Aside from the obvious issues of weight management, exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management, this website has valuable suggestions and resources to improve your cardiovascular status and is worthy of your study.

National Institute of Health This website provides excellent and user-friendly information on diseases, conditions, drugs and supplements. Videos on certain surgical procedures also available.

Weight Watchers is my recommendation for EFFECTIVE and ENDURING weight management, particularly when combined with a regular exercise regimen. Many of my patients have achieved impressive results using the Weight Watchers "Point System" approach. For those who wish a "hands on" approach, I highly recommend Leslie Ivey, a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. Vist her webite: www.eathealthyaustin.com
